We are home - and changed
It's the day after we returned from Biloxi. And it is a trip that none of us will forget. Yes, I could tell you a LOT about the trip and the work that we did, but it wouldn't do justice to what we experienced.
Don't ask me if I had a good trip, or if I enjoyed it. It doesn't do the work we did justice.
We completed a family's home!
Yesterday, we finished our work at Ronnie and Coleen Foster's home. They lost the roof off their house during Katrina, and then everything inside got soaked. Then the house literally split in half. They managed to get the house pulled back together and were working to finish it, but it was taking a looong time. Their FEMA agent got them in touch with SUMA, and volunteer crews have been working since June to finish the interior. We are the last crew to work on it. We finished all of the work to do. Getting people in their homes, New Orleans, First UM of Biloxi, and TEAM SAFETY. Have I gotten your attention?
We have finished the first week and some team members have returned to California while a few have joined us for this coming week. Most of the team is staying for two weeks, which is great for us and for our clients, or homeowners, as our team leaders already know their sites and what needs to be done.

On Saturday, we toured 5 sites where we plan to be working this week. This was lots better than last year, as we had a chance to do a little planning and more intelligent team assignments.
